sorry guys we went and saw Foxcatcher and The Hobbit.

anyway i disabled all startup programs except for microsoft related, ie:

- deselected Load system services under Selective Startup
- checked Hide all Microsoft services under Services tab then disabled all remaining processes

rebooted and was able to install itunes and ccleaner
