If no resistor and you unplug both TB and actuator = no abs

leaving actuator connected = ASC off, ABS on

Dafuq?

The motor mounts for the E46 are little rubber hockey puck things with a stud on both sides. They're just an off the shelf part. Are the Z cars different?

Wow, they did traction control through a secondary throttle body in the intake boot? I've never even heard of that before.

that sounds craptastic.

I think its done through the brakes AND through this throttle body flapper, it's been WAY too smooth aside from this one situation

and until the other day I've never noticed the engine actually being throttled back at all

Huh, I didn't know you could drive stick.

interesting. is that '99 throttle by wire or is it still mechanically connected?

my '01 S4 was throttle by wire and that was supposed to introduce a bit of throttle delay as well.

Massive false alarm on the dead battery front.

Once again I heard hoofbeats and thought "zebra."

(poz battery cable was completely popped off)

this is also probably a perfect explanation for my TCS weirdness.

Taht's how it cuts throttle, yes b/c TB has a real cable attached. Also interacts with rear brakes as ghetto mentioned, acts as an e-LSD of sorts.

ASC = shit 1st gen system (only takes wheel slip into account, terrible for any spirited driving - dangerous even, induces snap-closed throttle condition unexpectedly - total n00b mode)

DSC (e46+) = worthwhile (takes into account steering angle and other inputs, helpful, though still not ideal for "spirited" driving)
