"Diversity is our strength"

I just had a thought.

This saying is stupid. We have this, and then we have "all men are equal".
If all men are equal, how can diversity be a strength? Wouldn't it inherently be inconsequential?

Theoretically it's not. Societies have never benefitted from it historically.

But that doesn't make it beneficial.

depends on what you mean by equal..

obviously each individual has his or her own strengths and weaknesses.

but each human as.. valuable as each other.. Nobody is better overall than anyone else.

Just to clarify, I'm not advocating any racial superiorities. Some people are of MUCH greater worth to society than others. True, we're all equal universally as human beings. All men are CREATED equally, not not all inherently retain that social equality.

Inequality is inherent in our society. People aren't born equal, we don't live equal, and we will not die equal. Forcing equality amongst everybody I think leads to something like communisim. (where everyone is screwed).

I think we should strive for equality of opportinity, which I think is a state of affairs where two individuals born as members of roughly the same the same social class have the same opportinitues as each other.

Everyone is born relatively equally (unless you're a tard with an iq of four). About the question: diversity can be both a strength, assuming everyone is willing to co-operate fully for the greater good for their nation. An example, being, let's say recent Muslim immigrants talking about any ties to terrorism. I'm not saying that all Muslims know about/or have ties to terrorism, I am just saying that if Muslims do know about terrorism, they should speak up and inform the authorities, and the athorities can use this to their advantage; however, this is not how it works, seeing how most true "Muslims" (trust me, I'd know) have an anti-American sentiment.

diversity is a buzzword used by the lefties to impart or project a difference of some kind, whether its bad or good... leave it to a lefty to talk about differences rather than unity instead... a house of differences is a house divided which is a house easily conquered... the diversity movement is meant to seperate, divide and conquer people based on their differences, not their commonalities which is what this country is about... being together, not apart...

preach unity, not diversity...

IMO, the terms "diversity" and "multiculturalism" preach the exact opposite of what the words mean. Their goal is to fuse the widely different cultures and peoples of America into a single "Tan Everyman" American culture with no sense of unique background, culture, history, direction, or group belonging.

I reject the idea that mixed cultures are better than homogenous cultures.

Everyone should support true multiculturalism. I believe that all cultures and peoples have their own special, positive qualities to contribute to the world -- cultures which can only shine APART from one another.

unfortunately that is not the current reality of the world today... technology, air travel, and communications has bridged the gap for any sort of seperation of peoples or cultures... you can call it diversity or multiculturism or whatever you want, but in a country like america you can either accept your neighbor who might be and probably is different than you in many ways, or you can remain seperated to the point of isolationism...

like i said, preach unity, not diversity...
