"Happy Holidays" political correctness?

You've all seen it, on so many commercials. Everywhere "Happy Holidays" and BARELY ever "Merry Christmas." Is anyone sick of it? I've heard about this being talked about...and many people are tired of it as well. It's pretty sickening, companies afraid of "offending" anybody simply because they are of another religion. It's sad, censoring more and more, trying not to hurt anybody's feelings.

On that note, Merry Christmas to all.

No one is being censored. The businesses that say "Happy Holidays" deal with people of all different religions, and they want to include everyone in their greeting.

Merry Christmas, and happy holidays.

Well there's more than one holiday happening around this time, so it only makes sense for a company that wants to cater to as many people as they can would say something blanket like "Happy Holidays".

I don't understand what the big deal is. As a matter of fact, I think it's kind of arrogant to think that Christmas should be held above the other holidays happening at this time. Just because your holiday isn't all over everything anymore doesn't mean you have to be all pissy.

There were a few big issues this year ... And I'm not that familiar with them, but one was from some Macy's decoration, or something, that corporate heirarchy didn't allow for because it was too religious...

I say Happy Holidays to people who aren't Christian, usually. I am also wishing them a Happy New Year and happy Thanksgiving, it's just easier to say Happy Holidays. I usually say happy holidays unless it's some of my atheist friends, where I am sure to say Merry Christmas... or something about Christ being God.

I don't care about the corporate/holiday thing, but if I ever slipped up and some Jew, Muslim, or .. Zoroastrian got offended because I said Merry Christmas, it'd piss me off. It's all in the same spirit of festiveness, like if I said "Happy Wednesday!" to people on Wednesdays. I don't want them to worship Odin, or anything, but rather, just wish them a happy day--regardless of their beliefs.

i don't know where you live, but it still is above everything. can you think of any other day when so much of the country simply shuts down?

You know what I say?

I think it's ironic that the people who want it censored and the ones who defend the censoring are easily probally going to have presents and a tree and things this year and have a big christmas dinner or something, yet omg don't say christmas! even though that's what it is.

Down with feelings of brotherhood among men. Jesus wants us to celebrate the observation of his birthday in a season when it didn't occur by making everyone else feel uncomfortable.

Oh, and take down your tree, throw water on the Yule log, dispose of any mistletoe, and don't even think about eggs or bunnies come April, heretic.

Happy holidays. Think of it as a way to preserve what little religious significance is left in the occasion.

Happy Holidays is fine. Insisting on Merry Christmas is kind of ass-holish, if you ask me.

Thank god..that shit is annoying as fuck. If I want to donate I will seek out a charity, I don't want a smelly unshaven santa ringing a bell in my face when I run in a store to pick something up.

I remember when those SA guys were fairly cheerful Santas who made kids just WANT to go drop a quarter or two in the bucket.

Now there's some scowling homeless guy ringing a bell entirely too loudly. And when you drop some coins in the bucket, you're lucky to get a "thanks" out of them. Target doesn't want people like that outside their stores...they look like panhandlers with a gimmick. Bring back the Santas and I bet Target would take them back.

That said, I hate the way Target does business. But that's just because I deal with them every day
