cheap capture card/USB device ?

i found some old home VCR tapes the other day and wanted to digitize them for my family.

i did this in the past with a TV tuner card and a VCR, well i finally found a old working VCR from a friend, and have an old HP media PC that has a tuner card, but after i got a few tapes captured now the fucking HP PC doesn't find the card on bootup.

so my options are buy a cheap tuner card, or maybe try one of those USB dangle devices, do those USB things work at all in windows 7 ?

or should i just get a PCI or PCI-E card for my main PC ?

i don't really have any other need for a tuner card except to transfer VCR tapes, so don't need any HDTV shit or whatever,.

advice please ?

i went to compussr today and got a cheap USB deal......
http://www.compusa.com/applications/...720&CatId=1428

works fine so far, not using the included software, but virtualDub works great with it for capturing uncompressed, will use something else to do edits later on main PC.

you have to install a driver in windows XP for it to work, not sure about winders 7 yet..
