2003 350z Touring, 80,xxx, Brickyard, owned and fairly meticulously maintained since 38k by a friend I've known for about ten years now. Very trustworthy, responsible adult who never beat on it. I wouldn't buy a "sporty" car like this from anybody else on the planet.

Things went wrong because he bought his replacement car, then just let this one sit for somewhere around four months.

Long summary of the sequence of events...

He showed the car to a potential buyer ~4 months ago. No start. Buyer hooked up a jumper box, still wouldn't start. Buyer fled (understandably so.) He asked a buddy of ours to find a buyer. He got one tire kicker over who didn't buy it, somewhere around 3 months ago. Friend replaced the battery with new, did not start. I did some googling, said I'd come by with a new fusible link and poz battery terminal (60 bucks.) Knowing that it had sat for months and months, I pulled all the spark plugs and blasted fogging oil into the cylinders. Car started up (with a jumper box connected.) I let it idle while I topped up the tires. Took it around the block, it bogged, threw P0300 and P0327 (random misfire, knock sensor harness failure.) Cleared codes, went back a day or two later, did another much longer test run, it was FLAWLESS. I thought it was all good, so I made the deal.

Drove it a total of about 70 miles. Then, on the way back from work on Monday, I got violent misfiring, and the codes came back.

Started by pulling plugs, all look fine. Coils do not appear failed, DMM testing of coils say theres a chance they're bad. I ordered a set. What I should have done instead was order a knock sensor harness... I might try to return the coils.

Also going to drain the gas when I get back from work today. All... Twenty gallons... I topped off..................... :tard::tard::tard::tard::tard::tard:

The seventy miles I got out of it were fucking great, I like this car a lot. It will ultimately be my daily, MR2 busted down to project car.

I think the coils actually fixed the issue... fingers crossed, going to take it to work again tomorrow

a slightly higher quality 12v ultrasonic rodent repeller for the 350z, the ~$20 one I put into the MR2 has been working great.

There really is nothing worse than brushing an arm against a tacky patch of rat piss while working on a car. or having turds sprankle down onto you while you're underneath it.

I posted photos of the full on nest, with baby rats that got established in my housemates lesbaru. that's what im up against here
